Nelson Angulo: Sunderland sign Ecuadorian winger from Anderlecht

Sunderland The team has signed Ecuadorian winger Nelson Angulo from Anderlecht in a deal worth £17.5m.

The 22-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Wearside, with the option to extend for a further year.

Sunderland sporting director Christian Speakman said: “Nelson is a very exciting prospect and we are delighted that he has chosen to join Sunderland.”

“A quick and creative player, he excels at all the basic actions required to influence the final third and is ambitious to make an impression.

“He is young but already has many interesting experiences as a top player domestically, on the European stage, and internationally with Ecuador.

“We are delighted to have completed this signing and look forward to welcoming Nelson to Wearside.”

Angulo only signed a contract extension with Anderlecht in September 2025, after joining in 2022.

He leaves Belgium after three and a half years with 15 goals this season in 30 games.

He made his international debut in October 2021 during a friendly match against Mexico.

Meanwhile, winger Simon Adingra has joined AS Monaco on loan with a view to a permanent move.
