A group of New Zealand players were seen taking a morning walk through the streets of Baroda ahead of the first ODI against India on January 11, Sunday. A video clip appeared on social media with a police officer accompanying him, which caught the attention of citizens in the city.

Right-arm fast bowler Kyle Jamieson was among the New Zealand players who went out for a morning walk with his teammates. The tourists will play three ODIs and five T20Is, with the latter forming a major part of their preparations for next month’s T20 World Cup, which begins on February 7.

Here’s the video of the New Zealand players walking through the streets of Baroda:

With the T20 World Cup looming, the Blackcaps have named an under-strength squad for the 50th match. With Mitchell Santner recovering from injury, bowler Michael Bracewell will lead the tourists. The likes of Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra will only be available for the T20I series. Given the inexperience in the New Zealand camp, the hosts will be backing themselves hard to win the series.

Meanwhile, the draw in Baroda went in favor of Team India as they chose to field first, due to the dew factor. It will also be the first ODI match hosted by the Kutambi Stadium. The home team welcomed back captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer – both of whom had been suffering from injuries and missed the previous series against South Africa.

Despite their absence, the Men in Blue defeated the Proteas 2-1, thanks largely to the exploits of Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli. Kohli and Rohit will once again look forward to a huge series with the bat to keep themselves in the frame for the 2027 World Cup.
