NFL fans set Baker Mayfield on fire as Bucs QB throws game at INT cost in 23-20 loss vs. Panthers

Baker Mayfield threw a late interception that ended the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ comeback attempt in a 23-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The loss dropped the Bucs to 7-8 and put them in danger of missing the playoffs.

When fans saw Mayfield throw the game away in the final minutes, they stormed the middle.

“You’ll never win anything with Baker Mayfield. He’s one of poor Kirk’s sons,” one fan tweeted.

Another added: “Baker Mayfield has already gone from stud to loser in 6 games.”

“Baker Mayfield was and always will be an overrated bum who does it every year,” a third commented.

Baker Mayfield led the Bucs into field goal range with a chance to tie the game in the final minute. But he threw an interception to Lathan Ransom at the Carolina 30-yard line with 49 seconds left. Thus, the victory was sealed for the Panthers.

The Bucs quarterback finished 18 of 26 for 145 yards with one touchdown and one pick. Mike Evans had five catches for 31 yards and a touchdown, while Bucky Erving ran 19 times for 71 yards.

Can Baker Mayfield & Co. still make the playoffs?

The Panthers (8-7) now control their own destiny in the NFC South race.

If Carolina beats Seattle (12-3) in Week 17, a Bucs loss to Miami (6-9) would hand the division to the Panthers. The two teams will also meet in the season final, which could decide everything.

The Buccaneers (7-8) head to Miami next week. Mayfield and company have to win and pray for Carolina to stumble to keep their playoff dreams alive.
