The New England Patriots continued their impressive turnaround this season by defeating the Houston Texans 28-16 to reach the AFC Championship Game.
After winning just four games in his rookie season, quarterback Drake May led the Patriots to a 14-3 record and an unexpected playoff appearance.
The 23-year-old is a top contender for the NFL’s Most Valuable Player title, and he overcame the snow and a vaunted Texans defense to win Sunday’s divisional round game in Massachusetts.
That secured the Patriots’ first AFC Championship game since 2019, when legendary quarterback Tom Brady and New England earned their sixth Super Bowl win.
Houston’s defense has been ranked as the best in the NFL this season, and although the Texans earned their first playoff win on the road last week, they suffered a third straight divisional road exit.
The Patriots will travel next week to visit the Denver Broncos, the top seed in the AFC, for a spot in Super Bowl 60 on Sunday, February 8.
