📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:
Dallas was down 21-0 to the reigning Super Bowl champions, so how on earth did they pull off their joint-best comeback ever?
The emotions of the first home game since Marshawn Neyland’s tragic death may have played a role, but technically it was a combination of Dak Prescott’s determination and a defense that pounced on rare mistakes by the Eagles.
Prescott beat Tony Romo’s records for passing yards (now 34,378 yards) and game-winning drives (25) with an all-screen display — his diving touchdown captures his all-action display.
Philly blew a lead of 21 or more points for the first time since 1999, with only their second game with multiple turnovers this season — the other being another bad NFC East loss over the Giants.
Combined with 14 penalties for 96 yards, Jalen Hurts’ offensive malaise after an explosive start for him was huge. He had only passed for 200-plus yards in four games before Sunday, and had 150-plus yards in the first half alone in Dallas.
However, since Philadelphia took a 21-0 lead, their offense has been spectacularly derailed — with four straight punts, a missed field goal, and then fumble chance after fumble chance for the Cowboys.
The Eagles’ defense is great, it really is, but an offense that hasn’t exceeded 21 points in five of seven games (three losses) is now a major concern, as the pieces are all there but not clicking.
Nick Sirianni’s game is all about winning the big moments, the defense keeps them in them and the offense in place does almost enough – if he can’t even do that and now the discipline and ball protection breaks down, there could be a problem down the road.
