💡 **What You’ll Learn**:
The Norda 001 was the brand’s first release, a padded trailer built for extreme mileage with a distinctive, classic design that really sets it apart. The follow-up 001A aims to build on that reputation. It’s now available in three models: the 001A, the 001A G+ with added weatherproofing, and the 001A G+ Spike ($355), which adds spikes and waterproofing for extreme conditions like snow and ice.
I tested the 001A G+. The technical credentials of shoes are filled with trademark symbols and patents. But whatever the token technology, Norda’s goal with the 001A was simple – “find the most advanced midsole foam for the road that combines the highest flexibility possible to date that lasts 5 to 10 times longer than other superior foams.”

This new foam is now a Norda x Arnitel thermopolyester elastomer blend that aims to provide 30 percent more bounce than the original 001. It weighs 10 percent less and still delivers outstanding durability lasting more than 1,000 kilometers (621 miles).
During testing, this midsole was designed for fairly active riding, aided by the soft eTPU sole. It’s a good balance of softness and protection with a touch of responsiveness. The 001A G+ feels grounded rather than plush underfoot. The sole is small – 26mm in the heel, 21mm in the forefoot – which keeps you well connected to the road.
Feedback from this midsole was completely muted. It certainly doesn’t match the vibrant energy you get from the Asics Metafuji Trail ($295) or Hoka Tecton X3 ($275). However, it felt smooth over a wide range of terrain, from hardpack trails to grass and forest terrain. If, like me, you like your road shoes to walk a fine line between contact and cushion, you’ll love the 001A G+.
Stronger for longer?

On the upper, you have strong, seamless uppers cut from Bluesign and ISCC certified sustainable Dyneema biofiber. According to Dynema, this material is 15 times stronger than steel of the same weight. It certainly shows no signs of weakness after 50 miles, and previous generations of the 001A were hailed for being incredibly robust.
