📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:
O’Neill will face a number of selection dilemmas as a finalist.
The injured Shea Charles and Ali McCann are still absent from the midfield, and George Savile will join them on the bench due to suspension after receiving a late yellow card against Slovakia, his second of the season.
Daniel Ballard will also miss that match after being subsequently sacked in Kosice.
Up front, Dion Charles was substituted in the first half and his replacement Jimmy Reid also limped off in the second half.
That could leave O’Neal with just three options up front for Monday. Josh Magennis is the natural choice, coming off the bench in the second half in Slovakia.
Jimmy Donnelly replaced the injured Reid and played alongside Magennis, while Callum Marshall, who has often featured extensively for Northern Ireland, could get a chance in his natural role at centre-forward.
“I’ve said in the past that I’d like to see Callum Marshall get a chance,” former Northern Ireland defender George McCartney said.
He added: “He is a natural goalscorer, an intelligent player, and when Monday comes, he will probably play.”
Other youngsters who could get a chance to shine include midfielder Jimmy McDonnell, who O’Neill said he was close to selecting in Slovakia, former Coleraine star who has never played for Barnsley, Patrick Kelly, or defender Terry Devlin, who recently scored twice for Portsmouth.
If they are chosen, they will have a lot to prove.
