British skaters Lila Fair and Louis Gibson have won gold at the NHK Figure Skating Championships in Osaka – their 10th Grand Prix medal.
The win means the duo are the most decorated British team in the series and qualify them for the Grand Prix Final in Nagoya, Japan, in December.
The result comes ahead of the British Championships, where they are on course to become the most decorated pair in history, overtaking Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, and Sinead and John Kerr.
They scored 205.88 points overall in Osaka and led the field from start to finish, with the Spice Girls Rhythm Dance and Scottish-inspired freestyle dance receiving a raucous reception from the crowd.
Gibson, 31, is from Scotland, while Fair, 26, was born in the United States but grew up in London.
The pair have won seven British Championships and claimed Great Britain’s first World Figure Skating Championships medal in more than 40 years with an ice dancing bronze in Boston this year.
They have not yet been officially selected to compete at next year’s Winter Olympics in Milan but have qualified for a place on Team GB, external She ranked tenth in the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
