ONE Fight Night 39: “I would like to go for the title”

Brazilian jiu-jitsu star Helena Crevar doesn’t just dream of basic success in one tournament. The Las Vegas native is hoping for world title glory as well.

The 18-year-old ground game magician opened her promotional account at ONE Fight Night 39, which takes place inside Bangkok’s Lumpini Stadium on Friday, January 23.

That evening, live on prime time in the US, the Kingsway Jiu-Jitsu affiliate met fellow American BJJ star Teshya Noelani Alo in a bantamweight submission fight.

Combat sports analyst Nick Atkin caught up with Crevar to get her thoughts on her future goals in the promotion ahead of her promotional bracket this week.

“Yes, I’m definitely focused on the debut, but in the future, I would like to go for a title shot in ONE. There’s no one in particular to have a match against, but anyone in the division, I think it would be really cool for that division to get a belt as well,” the Texas-based martial artist responded when asked about her dreams of a world title shot in ONE.

Tayshia Noelani Alo admits she doesn’t feel “any pressure” ahead of the fight against Helena Crevar

Looking to spoil Helena Krevar’s path to world glory in one tournament is none other than Teshya Noelani Alo. The wrestler arrives from Hawaii with the goal of building her brand on the world stage.

Prior to the contest, Alo announced that she was ready to pull off an upset against Crevar, who she admits is the favorite between the two in their ONE Fight Night 39 bout.

“I’m mostly excited because obviously I’m going to beat the underdog, so there’s no pressure for me,” the 28-year-old said during her interview with Jets Magazine.
