OpenAI has acquired a new hardware partner.

The Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory announced Monday that it has partnered with semiconductor company Broadcom to acquire 10 gigawatts of dedicated AI accelerator hardware. These AI accelerator racks will be deployed in OpenAI data centers and partner data centers starting in 2026 through 2029.

โ€œBy designing its own chips and systems, OpenAI can integrate its learnings from developing leading models and products directly into devices, unlocking new levels of capability and intelligence,โ€ the company said in a press release.

While terms of the deal were not disclosed, the Financial Times estimated that it could cost OpenAI an estimated $350 billion to $500 billion.

This is just the latest OpenAI infrastructure deal in recent weeks.

Last week, OpenAI announced it had purchased an additional six gigawatts of chips from AMD in a deal worth tens of billions of dollars. In September, Nvidia announced it was investing $100 billion in OpenAI along with a letter of intent for OpenAI to leverage 10 gigawatts of Nvidia hardware.

OpenAI also allegedly signed a landmark $300 billion cloud infrastructure deal with Oracle in September. Neither company has confirmed the deal.
