📌 **What You’ll Learn**:
OpenAI plans to roll out a modified version of ChatGPT in the coming weeks — one that will serve as a “super app” with programming tools and AI agents, according to the Financial Times.
The company’s goal is said to be to become more competitive with Anthropic, especially among commercial clients, and to get closer to profitability before its IPO. This means turning ChatGPT into a portal that leads free users to products they might already pay for, such as the programming product Codex. In fact, the Financial Times quoted a senior OpenAI employee as saying: “Chat is dead.”
Thibault Sottiaux, who leads OpenAI’s product and core platform, said the company is working on a product “where you have your own personal agent who is able to help you… with everything in your life, whether it’s personally or at work.”
If this sounds familiar, it’s because there have been reports about OpenAI’s super-app ambitions since last year.
In March, the Wall Street Journal reported that these plans represent a major strategic shift for the company after launching a variety of standalone products in 2025; OpenAI executives now say they’re ditching “side quests” like the Sora video generator.
