The outside of the iPad hasn’t changed much in the past few years since its last update, with the screen barely increasing in size by 0.1 inch, a standard USB-C port, and a selfie camera, plus Touch ID built into the power button. Most of the changes affect the internals of the tablet, including a major processor upgrade to the A16 chip and storage which means this tablet is even faster and more responsive than the 2022 version. Double the storage space is available, with 128GB as the base line and up to 512GB in the upgraded model, so you won’t need to keep deleting apps to make room for more movies.

Although it has an A16 processor, which is also found in the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus, the low RAM means there is no support for Apple Intelligence. Whether this is a benefit or a disadvantage will depend on how much you like or dislike AI. Aside from the lack of Apple smarts, you’re really only making a compromise when it comes to the screen, and it’s not laminated, so the Apple Pencil doesn’t feel quite as sharp as on other iPads, and it’s not nano-textured, so glare and bright rooms may be more of an issue.

For most people, the iPad 2025 A16 will be more than enough tablet for streaming, web browsing, and even some light gaming. You can head to Amazon to pick up a silver or blue iPad at a discounted price of $300, with similar discounts on the 256GB and 512GB models as well, but availability varies by color as you move up the storage ladder.
