Just down the road from Pimblett’s gym is a mural of former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson holding the Premier League trophy and Champions League trophy he won during his distinguished career at the club.
Henderson is known for his leadership, work ethic and ability to lead by example – all traits Pimblett has developed as a fighter.
Rimmer refers to Pimblett as the “fourth coach” at the gym, alongside him, Ellis Hampson and Adam Cullen.
“A lot of gyms aren’t teams. And they’re not all there for each other. Some of them are just there for themselves,” Reimer says.
“But Buddy isn’t one of them. He’s training guys who are going to have their first fight while he has his big fight against Gaethje.”
Pimblett is one of the next generation’s star attractions: “We’ve had kids come in for haircuts for years,” Rimmer noted, but he leaves his ego at the door.
It mirrors Pimblett’s routine on fight night, where as soon as he steps inside the octagon, the showmanship and charisma disappear, replaced by focus and maturity.
