✅ Here’s what you’ll learn:

Ipswich fighter Wardley’s rise through the heavyweight ranks has not been remarkable.

Having started boxing at just 20 years old, he started out in the unlicensed white collar scene before turning professional.

In response to Parker’s comments, Wardley remained unfazed.

“For me, this is nothing new. I enjoy the challenge,” he added. “I’m looking forward to progressing. Proving people wrong and proving the doubters wrong, and that I very much belong at that top level,” he added.

Having shown his quality at domestic level with notable victories over David Adeleye and Fraser Clarke, Wardley notched a stunning 10th round knockout of Australian Justis Honey in June – despite trailing on the scorecards at the time.

But he believes his record in the knockout rounds – 18 of them with 19 wins and one draw – sometimes overshadows his technical ability.

“Just because my record is full of knockouts, I think people get distracted by that and take away my actual boxing skills that prepared those punches or got me to those moments,” Wardley said.

“If you think I’m going to be running around that ring with my right hand ready to go, there’s a lot you and the team have to prepare for.”

As the press conference came to a close, Parker repeated his previous statement when asked for a final message to Wardley.

“I’ll crush you,” he added, although there was little real animosity between the pair despite the fiery words as they ended the obligatory confrontation with smiles and handshakes.
