✅ Here’s what you’ll learn:
Monywa had never left Africa before traveling to London for the World Championships. At home he works full time as a veterinarian.
The scene of his shock victory was also just a stone’s throw from where beloved Chelsea play their home matches at Stamford Bridge.
It is understood Munywa bought his Cam Crabtree-designed winning darts from a local shop two days before he took to the famous stage for the first time.
In a five-set thriller with Dee Decker, Monywa showed off some great dance moves and a lot of passion, and even had a very close encounter with the wasp Alexandra Palace.
“He’s very energetic here too. We had to ask him to tone it down in order to win the set,” Kururi explained.
“That’s why I think when it was 1-0 when he got a double to win the second set, I think it got to his head.
“On stage [in Kenya]He has this golf key. He swings his hands and then throws the fishing net into the water. He pulls that after each leg. It was good to see him enjoying his time on stage.
“He plays well with the crowd behind him, so it was a good stage for him. I think the crowd motivated him a lot. The opportunity was there, and he took it.”
On top of his passion and love for the fans, Monywa’s work as a veterinarian often sees him balancing his archery career with animal care.
“Last week we were playing in the Nairobi Darts Masters tournament. We qualified for the knockout rounds,” Korori said.
He added: “Then he said to me: Tomorrow morning, I have to take care of some cows, and then I will arrive here by ten o’clock.”
“That’s his full-time job but then at the local pub, they play all night.”
