Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola faces a two-match ban after receiving a warning for the sixth time this season Winning the FA Cup on Saturday over Newcastle.

Guardiola received the yellow card after confronting fourth official Lewis Smith on the touchline at St. James Park after Kieran Trippier committed a foul on City player Jeremy Doku.

New regulations introduced this season mean Premier League coaches will receive a one-match ban once they receive three yellow cards, while six yellow cards will result in a two-match ban.

The ban applies to league and FA Cup matches but not European matches or domestic cup finals, meaning Guardiola will be on the touchline for the Carabao Cup final with Arsenal on March 22.

However, the Spaniard will have to miss next Saturday’s Premier League clash with West Ham and City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on the weekend of April 4-5, with the draw for that round yet to be made.

After the win over Newcastle, Guardiola said of the angry reaction that led to his booking: “I’ll tell you what – we have all the records in this country, all of them, despite everything.

“We have the record for the coach with the most yellow cards. I want all the records and now I have that, a two-match ban now and I will go on holiday for the next two matches.

“There are things that I cannot understand after 10 years. Review the events. Of course I will defend Dooku and all my teams.”
