Powerful Glory made racing history with a huge upset to prevail on British Champions Day at Ascot by odds of 200-1.
The outsider, ridden by Jimmy Spencer for trainer Richard Fahey, beat the 2-1 favorite Lazat to finish second in the Champions Sprint Stakes.
Powerful Glory is the longest-priced winner of the high-profile British Group One race, and comes three months after Qirat set a new track record by winning the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood at 150-1.
Spencer came through with a late surge on his mount to take the win on Britain’s richest day of racing, with Keno taking third on 66-1 in the 19-runner contest.
Powerful Glory had been well beaten in his previous two races this season, despite winning both races last year.
Al-Mutasir, owned by Sheikh Rashid Dalmuk Al Maktoum, takes home nearly £320,000 on the day which has a total prize pool of £4.35 million.
Three of the best horses in the world – Ombudsman, Delacroix and Calandagan – meet in the Champion Stakes at 16:05 GMT.
Earlier, Trawlermann beat stablemate Sweet William in the Long Distance Cup for trainers John and Taddy Gosden.
