Premier League: Hull FC 27-20 Bradford Bulls

Bradford have been through a lot since their last Premier League effort, with Manez Manukavu scoring the winning goal over the London Broncos in September 2014, with the club liquidating and rebuilding from the rubble.

But it looked as if they were never far away in the opening exchanges, as they overcame the seventh-placed side in last year’s Premier League and scored the first try through Waka Blake, the Fijian international blasting through the fragile defense on six minutes.

The excellent Price produced a moment of magic to break through the defensive lines and strike a powerful kick when he was denied by Joe Batchelor to level the score 10 minutes later but Bradford came back through former Hull full-back Conor Wynne.

Harvey Barron hit back for the hosts who took a 12-10 lead with the help of Price’s unerring boot before Davey Litten broke through some poor tackles on the left wing to make it 18-10 at half-time.

If John Cartwright’s side were hoping the Bulls would run out of steam in the second half, they were quickly disposed of just six minutes into the second half, with Rowan Milnes adding the extras to give the visitors the lead.

Milnes added two goals from the penalty spot, the second coming after a high tackle from Aidan Caesar on Joe Mellor in the 61st minute, putting Bradford in a slim 20-18 lead.

Eight minutes later, Hull’s penalty was taken without hesitation, with Price equalizing again 10 minutes from time.

Bradford had great field position from a goal-line leak after a drop-goal attempt from Milnes but a knock-on as they rebuild their attack took the wind out of their sails.

Hull charged down the other end and, with three left on the clock, took a point himself; The return pass to Sezer was cleverly turned back to Price and his kick sailed over from 30 metres.

A 21-20 lead with a minute to play seemed fair but Kast added shine to the score in the final seconds.
