Brentford Women striker Ashley Chitley was included alongside Declan Rice and Lamen Yamal in FIFA’s shortlist for top goalscorers last year.

FIFA have announced the nominees for the Puskas and Marta Awards with Chitley’s stunning kick in the Women’s FA Cup.

While playing against Ascot United in November 2024, the 30-year-old Chitley controlled a swaying pass into the box, moved the ball up and finished acrobatically with her back to goal.

The goal puts Shetley, who plays for the Bees in the fifth tier of the English women’s pyramid, in cheerful company alongside the impressive Marta and Lisbeth Offaly, the most expensive player in the history of women’s football.

Brazilian striker Marta is in contention for the Women’s Award named in her honor for her outstanding individual efforts in the US National Women’s Soccer League.

The 39-year-old ran from inside the center circle before feigning a shot, taking two defenders out of the game at once and calmly rounding the goalkeeper.

Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw and Arsenal’s Mariona Caldente are also competing for the Marta Award for goals scored against Hamerby and Lyon respectively.

Another notable goal on the shortlist came from Ovalle for Tigres in the Mexican Liga MX Femenil.

The Mexican winger, now playing for Orlando Pride, twisted in the air as his near-post cross was met with a stunning back-heel touch that soared over the helpless Guadalajara goalkeeper to find the far corner.
