📌 Main takeaway:

In response to a question about whether he would have signed with Ferrari if he had known how difficult this season would be, Hamilton said: “I do not regret the decision I made to join the team. I know that building and growing within an organization takes time, and I expected that, so yes.”

Hamilton joined Ferrari hoping the team would lead him to a record eighth drivers’ title, but his first season was an anti-climax.

The 40-year-old is hoping for a more competitive car from Ferrari next season, and is also happy to see the end of the current technical rules, which he feels are not compatible with his driving style.

Formula 1 introduces new chassis and engine rules next season.

The engines will have a much greater proportion of the total power output generated by the hybrid portion of the power unit, while the cars will return to an aerodynamic philosophy similar to that with which Hamilton enjoyed great success from 2007 to 2021.

But he said Ferrari “has a lot of work to do” over the winter to improve its track operations.

He said: “We will analyze the season and there are a lot of improvements we need to make collectively, but no one in the team is under any illusion that we will have to play our part and I believe we can.”

“So I hope we implement these changes and make them along with a better package next year.”
