Rangers and Motherwell were previously handed suspended sanctions, which have now been activated.
The penalties apply to Rangers’ trip to face Hibs on February 1 and Motherwell’s trip to Dundee on February 4, with both clubs having to pay the cost of the missing 50 tickets to the host clubs.
The governing body examined five recent top-flight matches involving “extensive, organized and illegal fireworks displays” from traveling fans:
-
Motherwell v Hibernian – 25 November
-
Falkirk v Motherwell – 3 December
-
Dundee v Aberdeen – 6 December
-
Kilmarnock v Rangers – 6 December
-
Rangers v Motherwell – 27 December
SPFL disciplinary proceedings found that Motherwell supporters had activated “around 20 devices” at each screen.
A child has been injured as a result of a Rangers display at Rugby Park.
Hibs supporters “threw devices at players and home club staff” at Fir Park.
The actions of some Aberdeen fans resulted in damage to Dens Park and caused one child to suffer burns and respiratory problems to another person.
The findings stated: “These events caused a risk to the health and safety of fellow supporters, players and match staff, as well as significant inconvenience to thousands of supporters at matches and fans watching these matches at home.”
The report adds that Rangers and Motherwell now face a pending reduction of 100 tickets for a future away match in the event of another breach.
Meanwhile, the 50-ticket penalty will apply to Hibs and Aberdeen in the same circumstances, with the terms of those terms running until June 2026.
Both Rangers and Aberdeen have issued statements urging their followers to stop such behaviour.
