Rangers transfer: Danny Ruhl on signings and left-back options

Ruhl’s only taste of an Old Firm derby was a 3-1 defeat in the Premier Sports Cup in November to interim boss Martin O’Neill’s Celtic at Hampden, which went to extra time.

Rangers are three points behind second-placed Celtic, while Wilfried Nancy’s team is three points behind leaders Hearts.

“We are ready,” Ruhl said. “We have a lot of confidence right now, we have a lot of faith.

“We need a good start to the game. It will be an emotional game from both teams. I can almost play with my best XI. This feels good for me.

“Football is about the little details, it’s about momentum during the game and we have to try to get momentum quickly from our side.

“The idea is how we can break our opponents’ serve but it’s also about how aggressive we can be in duels. I want to see a brave team. You have to defend well around your penalty area.”

The German says winning the Derby for the first time “would be amazing.”

“This is why we need a big and significant performance,” he added.

“It’s only three points – but this game is not just about three points. There is an emotional side.

“If we are there, we are in front and we can win some good balls and we hurt them, they will be more nervous – but if they create some good moments at the start, I think the fans will support them.”
