Former Rangers captain and coach Barry Ferguson believes the Scottish Premiership title race will “come to the end” but is “confident” of an Old Firm win over Celtic on Sunday.

Rangers have a two-point lead over their Glasgow rivals having played a game more before their meeting at Ibrox, the penultimate league derby this season.

Danny Ruhl’s men trail leaders Hearts – who play Aberdeen on Saturday – by four points with 10 games remaining and are looking for back-to-back wins over Celtic.

“You have to respect your opponent and respect the manager,” Ferguson told BBC Scotland.

“he [Martin O’Neill] He knows football inside out, and I still think they have really good players.

“But they come to our stadium and they want to come and put an end to Rangers’ title hopes. Rangers have to think that way too.

“I’m confident of Rangers at home at this moment in time, with the fans behind them. If they perform to the standards I expect, Sunday could be a good one for Rangers fans.”

Rangers, who beat Celtic Park 3-1 in early January, have won their past seven league games at Ibrox.
