Danny Ruhl is relishing Rangers’ role as the ‘hunter’ in the Scottish Premiership title race after recording a ‘graphic’ win to reduce Hearts’ advantage at the top.
A 3-0 win over Dundee closed the gap between Rangers and Hearts to four points, with Celtic drawing level with the league leaders allowing the Ibrox side to move above Martin O’Neill’s side into second place.
Ruhl enjoyed a ‘big win’ – his side’s eighth straight win in all competitions and sixth in the league – and will be looking to make further signings in the final week of the transfer window to add further strength to their momentum.
The home side struggled to break through stubborn Dundee until captain James Tavernier opened the scoring from a penalty kick, scoring his 100th league goal with the club, before Danilo and Geddy Gassama added two late goals.
“I felt like the stands were now full in the stadium after the referee’s whistle. Great, great positive energy,” Ruhl said.
“Danilo scored, that’s great, Gassama scored. All the subs tried and helped the team. It was a great team performance again. It feels great to get eight wins.” [in a row in all competitions].
“It’s a statement, especially from the point we were at. I talked about being a hunter and that’s still the way we are. We want to hunt. We want to be out front.”
“We want to win our games. If you do that, there will be a great chance in the next 15 games. There is still hard work to do. It is not easy to win games in this league. If you fish, you can be successful.”
