Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa called on fans for their support and said he was “focused on finding solutions” after Wednesday’s match. A surprise defeat in the King’s Cup By Albacete.

This was Arbeloa’s first match in charge after replacing Xabi Alonso on Monday.

On Saturday, Real will host Levante, which currently occupies second place from the bottom of the league standings, in an attempt to reduce the gap that separates it from leaders Barcelona by four points.

After the loss to Albacete, which ranks 17th in the Spanish Second Division, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal admitted that the team had reached “rock bottom.”

“I understand that people are looking for someone to blame, but I am focused on finding solutions,” Arbeloa said.

“When things aren’t going well, it’s because I need to help my players better. I feel a great responsibility for what happens on the field.”

Despite the disappointment, Arbeloa insisted that he would not rethink his approach to the defeat against Albacete.

“I wouldn’t change a single thing,” the 42-year-old said.

“The past doesn’t matter. Every failure I’ve had has made me improve, and made me ask questions. Failure gets you closer to where you want to go.”

Looking to the future, Arbeloa was clear about the type of Real Madrid he wants fans to see, with midfielder Jude Bellingham playing an important role.

“We trained for a few days, and up close you realize more about the type of player he is, and the talent he has,” Arbeloa said of the 22-year-old England international.

“He has to be one of the leaders of this team. He has the ability to create and build and that is what I will ask of him.

He added: “The most important thing is for him to go out on the field and be clear about what he must do, and for this nobility and character to be reflected in the team’s match.”

“I want a team that wins from the first minute, without any doubt that we are aiming for the opponent’s goal. I want a team that shows passion and enthusiasm.”

It is clear that the former Liverpool and West Ham defender will bear the blame for any shortcomings on his part.

He said: “What happened at Albacete was a lack of play, fitness and everything else, and I am responsible for that.”

“There will only be one person in charge, and that person is the current coach of Real Madrid.

“I respect the opinion of the fans and understand that they are hurt, but I ask for their support.

“In 123 years of history, great titles have been achieved when the Bernabéu was with its players.”
