Rees-Zammit ‘has boxes to tick’ ahead of Wales’ clash with Argentina

Wales ended an 18-Test losing streak against Japan in July when Matt Sherratt was interim head coach.

Tandy took the reins after leaving his position as defense coach with Scotland, adding Sherratt and Wilson, who was a summer assistant, to his management team.

Former internationals Rhys Patchell, Duncan Jones and Dan Lydiate will also help train for a tough November schedule.

Wales is ranked 12th in the world, facing Argentina, ranked sixth, New Zealand, ranked second, South Africa, ranked first, and Japan, ranked 13th.

Tandy is expected to beat the Brave Blossoms with the Pumas looking the most likely scalp in the Rugby Championship.

Wilson, who left his position as Harlequins coach for the international opportunity, wants to see progress from a new-look side regardless of the results.

“We talked about if you close your eyes, you will eventually see and be able to describe how Wales will play with the identity and model of play that we want to create,” the former Dragons, Scarlets and Cardiff coach said.

“It takes time, and there are starting points that need to be put in place to build that.

“We want to see positive steps from what we are working on in training. Can we build an identity and style of rugby that is attractive and wins?”
