“Relaxed” hearts maintain their calm amidst the noise of Glasgow

McInnes’ calm is not limited to just transfers, but also the knowledge that his team deserves to be where they are.

There is no clear data indicating increased performance, or feeling lucky.

Hearts have won the most matches, scored the most goals and have the best goal difference.

They have the best home record, the best away record, and the league’s top goalscorer, Lawrence Shankland, who McInnes described as “the best striker in the league”.

Alexandros Kyziridis has the most assists in the Premier League, and Hearts are the biggest threat from set-pieces in the division too.

They have beaten Celtic and Rangers twice each.

Given the relative weakness of the Old Firm, plus the strength of Motherwell and Hibernian as well, a points total of less than 80 could be enough to win the Premier League.

McInnes himself took Aberdeen beyond the 70 point mark consistently while at Aberdeen. No wonder the manager of hearts is satisfied.

Who knows how this exciting season will end, but the faith and trust in Hearts up to this point has been fully justified.

“I want us to meet support expectations here and exceed those expectations over time,” McInnis said.

“Now we might get through [those] Where are we at this moment? But we are comfortable with that. I don’t think there is anyone at Hearts who is uncomfortable with where we are.

“We are exactly where we want to be. We have been at the top of the league now for more than three months.

“This isn’t just a little round of form. It’s not just a little spell. It’s something more. Something substantial there.”
