Robert Parrish has an interesting perspective on the public GOAT debate that isn’t just limited to Michael Jordan and LeBron James. The GOAT discussion of basketball is probably one of the most popular topics online, in the media, and perhaps in casual conversations among NBA fans.
Speaking to HoopsHype’s Sam Yip, “The Chief” discussed a variety of topics, including his career, the Boston Celtics, and more. When Parrish was asked to name the greatest player of all time, he called it blasphemy.

“You think about that table where the best sit,” Parrish said. “You can’t pinpoint one player who is better than anyone else sitting at that table, the best of all time. They’re all the best of all time. I don’t subscribe to that philosophy about the GOAT, the greatest of all time. That’s nonsense, in my opinion.”

The four-time NBA champion added:
“No one is better than anyone else who played in the NBA. Now, you may be the best player of your era. I agree with that. But the best player to ever walk on an NBA basketball court? That’s blasphemy, in my opinion.”
Robert Parish’s comments about the GOAT debate come after LeBron James broke his own record for most games played in NBA history. Parrish had nothing but praise for James, who continues to excel despite being 41 years old and in his 23rd season in the NBA.
“The longevity and dependability that LeBron is showing right now, I think is a testament to how he takes care of himself,” Parrish said. “You know, he takes his fitness seriously, diet and fitness. That’s a philosophy I support.”
Despite his age, James has not confirmed whether he will play next season or not. He will be a free agent and has already been linked to a third stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Robert Parrish won a ring with Michael Jordan

In the same interview with HoopsHype, Robert Parish was asked about his brief stint as a member of the Chicago Bulls during the 1996-97 season. Parrish was in the twilight of his career, but he still helped the Bulls win another championship.
Parrish noted that he was the only player during the season who was able to challenge Michael Jordan. He was responding to him, and there was a lot of trash talking. He described the Bulls players as being afraid of MJ, which he wasn’t surprised by because it’s Jordan’s team.
“The Boss” added that his arrival as a three-time champion and playing with Larry Bird helped him not be intimidated by Jordan. They had their differences during the season, but they respected each other.
