Ireland will begin their 2027 Rugby World Cup campaign on Monday 4 October against Portugal in Sydney (07:15 GMT).
The redeveloped 42,500 capacity Sydney Football Stadium will host the first Rugby World Cup meeting between the two teams and was the scene of Ireland’s win over Namibia in the 2003 tournament when it was known as Australian Stadium.
Ireland last met Portugal in July 2025 where they achieved a record 106-7 win during their summer tour.
After their opener, Andy Farrell’s side will then make the long trip to Western Australia for their second Group D match when they take on Scotland at the 60,000-capacity Perth Stadium on Sunday, October 10 (10:45 GMT).
Ireland’s last Test match in Perth occurred in 2006 at the now demolished Subiaco Oval when they lost to Australia 37-15.
The Perth stadium opened in 2018 and was the scene of the first match of the 2025 British and Irish Lions tour of Australia when they recorded a 54-7 win over Western Force.
Ireland’s final pool stage match will see cross country once again as Melbourne’s Docklands Stadium hosts their clash with Uruguay on Sunday 17 October (04:45 GMT).
The 53,000 capacity, enclosed-roof stadium hosted two of Ireland’s matches in the 2003 Rugby World Cup – a 17-16 pool defeat to Australia before a 43-21 quarter-final loss to France.
The 2008 Test match defeat to the hosts was the last time Ireland appeared on the field, but they enjoyed victory in the Victorian capital during their 2-1 series win in 2018 with that match played at AAMI Park.
If Ireland progress to the last 16 as Group D winners, they will face the best third-placed team at Docklands Stadium on Sunday, 24 October (06:45 GMT), while the second-placed team will watch them at the same venue the previous day, 23 October, at 09:15.
A return to Perth will be required if Ireland emerge as one of the top teams to qualify for third place, with that match scheduled to take place on October 23 (11:45).
