Based on the AirCradle’s advertised deep foam and pressure relief, I was expecting pressure relief to be a prominent feature, but it wasn’t. That’s not to say that pressure relief was absent in testing, but it was minimal compared to firmer hybrid mattresses I’ve tested like the DreamCloud Hybrid or Wolf Memory Foam Hybrid Premium Firm. Which brings me to the firmness: By my measure, this was not an “average” mattress. Saatva rates this mattress between 5 and 7 on the firmness scale, so it falls into the medium firmness range. Unless you weigh more than 200 pounds or have a taller build, your body mass will cause more drowning. This felt like a real firm mattress, which I’d rate at 7.5 to 8 out of 10. For context, the firmer hybrid mattresses we’ve tested, like the Plank Firm Luxe and Bear Elite Hybrid, fall in the 8 to 10 range of the firmness scale.

To be clear, a firm mattress is not a bad thing at all. The light pillow for my pressure points, especially my hips, was just right for back and stomach sleepers. Combined with the amount of spinal alignment support you get from this mattress, this is excellent Choose these two sleeping positions. Side sleepers, I’m more hesitant. In my two-week testing period, I also tried this mattress with Saatva’s Graphite Memory Foam Topper, which is included in the winter package. This has helped tremendously in creating more cushions to sink into. The downside is that it is not included with the mattress and costs extra. This will be available to athletes in Colorado Springs, but I can’t help but wonder if the LA28 would be better off using the Saatva Classic mattress, with its three customizable firmness levels and two heights. However, I can’t even begin to think about the logistical headache that would be; I’m just a humble mattress tester.

The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid did well at maintaining a bouncy feel that supported me as I transitioned between sleeping positions. It also maintains good motion isolation, keeping the bed stable so my husband doesn’t get disturbed on his side when I toss and turn. I wouldn’t classify it as a cooling mattress, even with a graphite-filled topper. It remained more temperature neutral, didn’t build up excess body heat, but didn’t offer a cool sensation to the touch either.

Overall, this is a quality offering from Saatva, and based on my testing history with the brand, I’d expect nothing less. It also comes with Saatva’s free white glove delivery service, which includes delivery, mattress set-up and transport of the old mattress. As someone who moves around beds every week, having this as part of your purchase is very important. Throw in a 365-night sleep experience with no minimum “break-in” period, plus Saatva’s lifetime warranty, and maybe you’ll start to understand why I’ve always considered this brand to be one of the best in the game – they know what they’re doing.
