Mike Grady has left his position as head coach of the newly formed Salford RLFC by mutual agreement after less than three months.
Grady has been coach of the Salford Red Devils Women’s side for two years, taking over as Salford coach on 5 January.
But he has now decided to leave following discussions with the board after seeing a change in his personal circumstances.
Assistant coach Dave Hewitt will take charge of first team duties on an interim basis.
Salford say their search for Gradi’s successor has already begun and they aim to “set an appointment as quickly as possible to maintain stability and continue the growth of the team”.
The club said in a statement that it was “forever indebted to Mike for his unwavering commitment” and added: “We want to thank him for all his hard work since taking over as head coach in very difficult circumstances.”
“What we created at the beginning of the year was pretty special and I’m proud to have built that,” Grady said.
He added: “I am happy to leave the club in a better place than I found it, and I wish the club all the best in the future.”
Salford chief executive Ryan Brearley said: “Mike has taken over as coach at a time when the club has just gone through one of the most difficult times, with the dual impact of relegation and liquidation.
“Mike will always be remembered as the one who fought for and achieved the goal of sending Salford’s first team into this new era.”
