Agha was furious after his Pakistani teammate Mohammad Rizwan swung the ball towards him at the non-striker’s end of Mehidi’s bowling and the duo tangled.

From his home run, Agha tried to pick up the ball and give it to Mehidi, but the Bangladesh captain got it first and hit the stumps.

On-field referee Tanveer Ahmed referred the decision to third umpire Kumar Dharmasena, who sent off Agha.

The Pakistani batsman, who scored 64 off 62 balls, gestured angrily as he left the field.

“I think the sportsmanship has to be there,” Aga said, echoing sentiments similar to those expressed when England spinner Jonny Bairstow was run out by Australian wicket-keeper Alex Carey in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s in 2023.

“What is it [Mehidy] What has been done is in the law. I think if he thinks it’s true, then it’s true, but if you asked me my point of view, I would have done differently.

“I would have chosen sportsmanship. We didn’t do that [type of thing] previously. We will never do that in the future either.”

He was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “the misuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match”.

Agha and Rizwan scored 109 for the fourth wicket as they combined for a wobbly Pakistan to score 122-3 after losing three quick wickets.

Rizwan was dismissed for 44 balls later as Pakistan made 274 balls, before bowling out Bangladesh for 114 to win by 128 Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) runs and level the best-of-three series at 1-1.
