The chairman added: “The majority of incoming coaches want, for health reasons or otherwise, a fresh start in the summer.” “They want a full pre-season to solidify their methodology.
“What I would say is that we had a shortlist of about four candidates and we narrowed it down and some of those people are not necessarily available to come and have a look at Aberdeen and have a look at what we have here.
“It’s important to maintain confidentiality because if candidates don’t want you to talk about them, we have to respect that.

“We will take our time to appoint the right coach.”
Meanwhile, Darren Mowbray – the talent scout who brought Bojan Meveski and Wilber Ramadani to Pittodrie – has been reappointed as head of recruitment at Aberdeen.
The Englishman left in the summer of 2023 to join Southampton but now replaces Nuno de Almeida, who was head of recruitment under former boss Jamie Thelen.
