This completed a miserable day for Ferrari with Charles Leclerc retiring earlier in the race after a collision with Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli broke the front suspension. The rookie Italian driver was collided on Leclerc Road by Oscar Piastri’s McLaren.
In a separate interview with Viaplay, Hamilton seemed more optimistic about Ferrari and what he might be able to achieve in the future.
He added: “It would be wrong to say that there are no positives at all.”
“If you look at Charles’ performance in qualifying, it shows that the car has some speed.
“But we have to struggle through these difficulties right now. I have to believe that these difficulties lead to… I believe that something extraordinary awaits me in my life and in my destiny.
“I still really believe in this team and what we can achieve together. I just have to keep pushing and keep giving everything I can.”
After Ferrari retired twice in Sao Paulo, the team was left in fourth place in the constructors’ championship, with Mercedes 36 points ahead in second place and Red Bull in third place.
