Saracens vs Toulouse: The hosts clear the air after Leicester’s defeat

Saracens will face French side Toulouse on Sunday after a frank review of their “incredibly disappointing” loss to Leicester City, with director of rugby Mark McCall challenging his side to “walk their talk on the pitch”.

The Saracens suffered a serious setback in their quest for a top-four finish in the Prem, conceding four tries in the first half en route to a 36-28 defeat at Mattioli Woods’ Welford Road on Sunday.

“When you’re not emotionally prepared for a big game — which we obviously weren’t — it’s very frustrating and disappointing,” McCall said.

“Ultimately, it’s on me, and we have to do something about it.

“I don’t want to tell you guys what happened in the last 24 or 36 hours, but rest assured that we called a spade a spade and we were honest with everyone and everyone was honest with us.

“We got it wrong. There’s not much to really say, so we’ve just got to go and do it. It’s time for us to talk on the pitch.”

Toulouse, who have won the European Champions Cup a record six times, rested most of their stars for their final league game, with the likes of Antoine Dupont, Romain Ntamack, Anthony Jelonche and Jack Willis all set to feature at a sold-out StoneX Stadium.
