Scarlets: Nigel Davies has yet to decide his future beyond this season

Despite this uncertainty, Davies is already laying the foundations for the club’s long-term direction, with a major focus on building a high-performance environment on and off the pitch.

“A big part of what I do is make sure we deliver high performance across the board,” he added.

“There is a huge amount of work to align our playing style – our DNA – with the processes that support it, coaching roles, player profiles, conditioning programs and skill sets.

“It’s about putting the right processes and metrics in place so we can move things forward, understand where we are and measure progress.”

Davies also confirmed that he has not yet had any discussions about extending his stay, although he is leading a major structural reset behind the scenes.

“A lot of this has to do with environmental development,” he said.

“There will be strong processes and a clear structure for the future, whoever is involved.”

The review has already led to changes in the backroom, and more could follow, with defense coach Jared Payne departing at the end of the season.

Davies says more backroom adjustments are likely to be made as the club looks to rebuild.

“In any organization, if you want to move forward, you have to constantly evaluate, reevaluate and evolve,” he said.

“There will be changes.”
