Scotland lost midfield duo Kirsty McLean and Chelsea Cornet to injury in their opening World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg.

Coach Melissa Andreatta’s team will face the 108th-ranked team in two matches at Esch-sur-Zeit on Tuesday, March 3, then Hampden Park four days later.

Liverpool’s McClean, who has already won 14 caps, was likely to start, while Birmingham City’s Cornet, 27, was hoping to make his fourth Scotland appearance.

McClean, 20, missed Liverpool’s FA Cup win over Everton on Sunday, while Cornet was an unused substitute for Birmingham the day before as they thrashed Chatham Town.

Their places in the national team will be taken by Rangers defender Leah Eadie, who has played four international matches, and her compatriot Amy Rodgers, 25, a Nottingham Forest midfielder who has played for her country 12 times.

Scotland will be heavy favorites to start their World Cup campaign with two wins over a team ranked 80th below them.

The two teams meet for the first time, as Belgium and Israel are the other two teams in Group H of the European qualifiers.
