📌 **What You’ll Learn**:

Earlier this week, Celtic contacted the Scottish Professional Football League to ask whether the correct process had been followed regarding the postponement of their league match in Aberdeen.

The Premier League match was called off at 16:20 GMT on Wednesday – less than four hours before kick-off.

Regarding the latest postponement against Motherwell, Aberdeen said: “The match official made an assessment at 2pm today and given the current condition of the pitch, and with no prospect of the weather improving over the next 24 hours, an early decision has been made to postpone tomorrow’s Scottish Cup tie.

“Following the postponement of the Celtic match earlier this week, the ground crew and maintenance teams at Pittodrie have worked tirelessly to bring the pitch into playable condition, however, unprecedented and persistent rainfall has made it almost impossible to repair the problem area in front of the Mirkland goal.

“We apologize to our supporters for the inconvenience.”

Motherwell commented: “The match referee inspected the Pittodrie surface and deemed the pitch unplayable at this time.

“With continued rain expected between now and kick-off in Aberdeen, an early decision has been made to ensure 1,100 Motherwell fans do not begin traveling to Aberdeen, nor do the Motherwell squad.

He added: “While we are disappointed that the match will not take place tomorrow evening, we appreciate the transparency and proactivity of all parties during this process.”
