📌 **What You’ll Learn**:

Pfannenstiel, who arrived at Aberdeen in late October, was keen to stress again that he is not a ‘playing director’ and that Levein is the one who makes the decisions.

The 52-year-old has been involved in football around the world in various capacities during his career, but this is his first taste of the game in the UK.

“I’ve heard people say ‘I’ve never seen a sporting director in the changing room’ – that’s pure ignorance because in most clubs in the world, the director of football before the match, after the match, or even at half-time goes into the changing room.”

“This is very normal in most football cultures. So I don’t see there being any problem. I think people don’t really know what the job of a sporting director is.

“It’s not a managerial role, it’s a football role. Being there and getting the mood in the camp is very important for me when it comes to the next few transfer windows.”

With Aberdeen currently struggling on the pitch, Pfannenstiel will be pivotal in their strategy to get things back in the right direction.

Appointing a new director will be a key part of this, a process he is leading. Once the new man is in place, will we still see the German in the dugout?

“I hope not, but I don’t know yet. It could be. It depends on where the manager is from. It could be the manager who wants it, or it could be the manager who doesn’t care, so I haven’t made up my mind.

“Normally, I see myself more in the stands. I think it’s better for me to see it from above. But the situation is different now and we will find out when the new coach arrives.”
