Ipswich Town Women have appointed Sean Burt as their new manager.

Bert joins from Scottish club Heart of Midlothian, where he was responsible for recruitment for the women’s team, having previously been assistant manager.

He will be responsible for all football affairs at Ipswich and will work alongside David Wright, who was appointed interim coach last week after Joe Sheehan stepped down from his position.

Ipswich occupies last place in the Women’s Super League 2 after winning only one match out of 11 so far, after promotion last season.

Mark Ashton, Chairman of Ipswich, said: “Sean brings valuable experience and knowledge to the role and will work closely with existing staff across a number of key areas as we look to continue our progress in the short and long term.”

Bert leaves Hearts in third place in SWLP 1, behind Glasgow City and Rangers.

“Over the past four years, Sean has played a key role in our transition from an amateur team to a professional team,” Hearts manager Evie Olade said.

“Having started as my assistant, he moved into a completely new role leading our recruitment process, which was the starting point for a new era for the club.”
