WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s plans for a new Arc of Triumph in D.C., unveiled Friday, include a towering winged figure with a torch and a crown in the shape of Lady Liberty, flanked by two eagles and guarded by four lions — all gilded.

The 12-page plan released by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts shows the arch would be 250 feet (76.2 m) tall from its base to the tip of the winged figure’s torch, with “One Nation Under God” and “Liberty and Justice for All” inscribed in gold above either side of the monument.

The plan indicates that the structure would be located between the Lincoln Memorial to the east and Arlington National Cemetery to the west and within a traffic circle connecting Washington to northern Virginia. The arch would dwarf the Lincoln Memorial, which stands 99 feet (30.2 meters) tall.

Trump said he wants to build the arch near the Lincoln Memorial, and said the nation’s capital first sought to build that memorial 200 years ago.

“It was shut down because of the so-called Civil War, so it was never built,” Trump said in February. “Then, they almost built something in 1902, but it never happened.”

Trump said that major cities around the world have such landmarks, and Washington is the only city that does not have such landmarks.

The arch is one of many architectural changes Trump is making in his second term. In addition to building a large ballroom in the White House, he also made changes to the Oval Office and converted the Rose Garden into a stone-covered courtyard.

The arch extends beyond the White House, giving Trump a chance to leave another permanent memorial in a city known for them. He will expand on his previous talk about beautifying the city by replacing its “tired” grass, broken signs and street medians.
