SELL: England midfielder Joe Marchant will return from France next season

Before his move to Paris, Marchant spent his entire career at Harlequins where he played over 150 games and was part of the team that won the Prem title in 2021.

He was first selected for England in 2019 and could try to win more games from next season onwards.

“There are a lot of players at the club who I played and trained with in England and it would be great to play with them again,” Marchant told the Sale website., external.

“Cale have some of the best players in the country and I can’t wait to play with them.

“I would love to get back into the squad for England but I know I first have to get back into the flow of the Prem and put in some good performances to sell.”

As for Marchant’s arrival, director of rugby sales Alex Sanderson believes it is a deal that suits both parties.

“Joe has ambitions to play in the World Cup and that is part of his motivation to come back,” Sanderson said.

“To do that, he has to play in a team that is competing for the championship and he believes that is our team.

“He’s got the X factor, on both sides of the ball and in the air. He’s some kind of player.”
