📌 **What You’ll Learn**:
The first Cadillac Formula 1 car completed its first laps in a private shakedown at Silverstone on January 16 with Mexican Perez behind the wheel.
On the other side of the garage, Finn Bottas – who has kept his finger on the pulse of Formula 1 as a reserve driver for Mercedes in 2025 – is also counting down to the next chapter of his career.
“For me, it’s like a comeback,” Bottas said in an exclusive interview for F1: Back at Base.
“I want to make this my personal best season, when I look at my personal results. I really want to minimize the things I feel I could have done better.
“I want to give everything for myself, but first and foremost for the team. If I can finish the match feeling like there’s nothing I could have tried harder or could have done better, then that’s a good goal.”
Perez and Bottas’ Formula One careers followed a similar path. Perez made his debut for Sauber in 2011, two years before Bottas debuted for Williams. Both went on to play a big role in winning constructors’ world championships, with Bottas contributing five titles during his five seasons at Mercedes and Perez two during his four-year spell with Red Bull, which ended in 2024.
The new Cadillac duo will benefit from all this experience as they take on a larger role to help accelerate the growth of the new team.
“We have been through the whole stage, done everything and seen everything in this sport,” Perez said. “So I think we have a great group of drivers.
“Starting with a new team, it’s a different kind of challenge. Being able to be a part of building a new team really sparked my interest in this project.”
