📌 Key idea:

Paul, you must rank as one of the most committed drinkers-Weared in Britain. When was the last time you had a clean shave? DoubleRDiner
I’m a Marie Curie ambassador and have been live on X during lockdown. I’ve had a mustache since I was 23 years old. It does not cause itching. I have to trim it, otherwise it runs down the lip and becomes thick and dense. I’ve tried going full walrus, but it doesn’t look good.

Were the greats of physical comedy from the silent era such as Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd W Max Linder An inspiration to you and your brother [Barry] Starting to slapstick? Tombo
Yes. Slapstick is something we’ve always found funny. Laurel and Hardy were our favorites. You can’t go wrong with visual comedy. There can’t be many people who don’t laugh at someone’s downfall. We grew up in show business. my father [Gene Patton, who worked with Peter Sellers] He was a very visual and comedian. Our mother was a dancer. Our two older brothers were in this business. We have grown up on and off stage all our lives and find it natural to be on stage.

Was there any rivalry between you and your older brothers Jimmy and Brian, AKA? Patton Brothers? Top tramp
Jimmy was 16 years older than me and was in the business when I was born. Brian is 14 years older; He turns 92 in December. They sang, danced and did comedy. They were always on TV on Saturday nights during the 1950s and 1960s, dancing with Ronnie Corbett and Harry Secombe. We used to tap dance, but I wasn’t very good. When we were the Butlin’ Redcoats in 1966, I had to learn how to dance ballroom too. We stopped dancing in the early 70s and went into pure comedy. My sister Sheila was a dancer, and my brother Colin was an auto mechanic. Sadly, they are all gone. It was just Brian and I left.

Has working with your brother Barry for so long brought you as much happiness as it has brought your fans? Rohyun
I think more. Anyone who saw us live can see the fun we had on stage. It was the same for filming, just look at the excerpts from ChuckleVision. We loved each other and just had fun. He would say something that made me laugh and I would say something that made him laugh. I miss him so much. And that’s the biggest thing I miss — working with him on stage — because we’ve done it together for over 50 years.

What is your favorite episode? Cropolite
Play football in [former Rotherham United stadium] Milmore was a good idea. We had fun making them all. ChuckleVision has been in operation for 23 years, so several generations have grown up with us. I can’t go down the street without someone wanting to take a selfie. It takes me a long time to walk around the supermarket. It’s a beautiful feeling and I will never get enough of it.

What’s the strangest place someone has tried to do a “mine, yours” thing? Nowtoontely
Well, I’ve never been to the men’s restroom, I’ll tell you that! I was in the Maldives, walking down the street because my wife wanted to go shopping, and this little man came out of the store and went: “Lee, to you.” I said: How do you know that? He said: “Two years in England. It was my favorite show, I watched it all the time.”

We’ve had some great comedians who became famous stage actors: Max Wall, Ken Dodd, etc. Do you have any ambitions to play Samuel Beckett or Shakespeare? LowerColon
“Is that the question for me or not?” I doubt very much that I will be able to learn these lines, but if they are offered to me, I will try.

‘Bring it!’ Paul Elliott (Paul chuckles) in Falling to the Top.

What was your first reaction when you were offered the role of a ruthless gangster in London in the fall? to The highest? com.ingledoody
“Bring it!” I thought: Well, this suits me on the floor. I used to bully Barry in the Chuckle Brothers movie. Why not go one step further?

How about being the next Bond? Mardomania
Well, retired James Bond, my age. Who wouldn’t want to play James Bond?

Enjoyed your closed DJ sets. What is your approach when it comes to manipulating discs? Which floor filler do you prefer? It was “2 meters yo” Covid face masks your own idea? Before Felestrene and Pisanti
I do all kinds. I do one-hour segments as a guest DJ – solo music, house music, whatever they want. tsunami [by Dvbbs and Borgeous] It is a good floor filler. I’ve been in clubs my whole life. And yet, I still go. I’ll finish the panto, then my wife and I will go clubbing. We saw Judge Jules in Falmouth a few weeks ago. I’d love to do the master mix for Radio 1. They just haven’t asked me. In terms of face masks, we walked into our local co-op in Doncaster during lockdown, and outside they had two full-sized pieces for me and Barry, saying: “2m U”. “Cheeky idiot,” I thought, “using our names and logo.” Then we thought: “Wait, there’s something to add here. Let’s make ‘2m U’ masks with our image.” They sold very well.

Who is the most famous person who has told you they love your work? TooMuchSpareTime
We were filming the National Treasures for Red Nose Day scheme. We were just leaving, going down the stairs, and Liam Gallagher came up two stairs at a time, very quickly. “This is Liam Gallagher,” my wife Sue said. I said: Was it? I walked up the stairs after him and said, “Liam. Can I take a selfie?” He told his girlfriend: Take out your camera and take a picture. So he took a picture with me and I took a selfie with him.

Who do you think is the funniest on Gogglebox? Your grandson Pete or your grandniece Sophie? I say Pete. Arthur Thistlewood
I think they are as fun as each other. Why wasn’t I on Celebrity Gogglebox? They never asked!

How can you and Barry best deal with Cray? Twins if they start taking liberties In your palace in 1963: Guerilla warfare, do you settle it like masters, or is it from you to them? Mr_202
We nailed them, then slowly retreated.

Which one did you prefer? Fame and a successful television career, or Rotherham United in the English Premier League? Stephen w1979
This is difficult. I would love to see Rotherham in the Premier League, but I think fame and success because when you’re in this business, it’s something you crave. We worked in gentlemen’s clubs, nightclubs, theaters and pantomimes, hoping one day to get that break, which we had after 23 years of slow work. We won Opportunity Knocks in 1967 and we won New Faces in 1974. But we didn’t get noticed until 1984. We toured over Easter with Roger the Dog, who had his own BBC One show for children.

I remember doing a matinee at Ashton-under-Lyne in Greater Manchester, with an audience of 28 people in a 1,000-seat theatre. As my dad told us: “Always give 100%, whether 1,000 people pay £20 each or 20 people pay £20 each.” We just laughed and made it like a little party. What we didn’t know was that at the back of the stage, producer and director Roger the Dog was watching. We received a phone call the next day asking us to go to lunch. We ended up wearing Roger the Dog dog costumes, which we borrowed from It’s a Knockout, and asked if we could name the characters ChuckleHounds.

At the end of the series, they conducted a nationwide poll asking people what they thought the best part of Roger the Dog was. 97% said that ChuckleHounds! So they gave us our own series, which later became ChuckleVision, and it all went away from there. And here we are.

Fall to the Top is coming to streaming platforms later this year
