📌 Main takeaway:

A joint administrator for Sheffield Wednesday said wages could be paid on time for November and December after fans ended their boycott of the club.

Chris Wigfield, managing partner at Begbies Traynor, confirmed cash flow had increased to cover short-term costs thanks to the efforts of Wednesday fans in purchasing match tickets and merchandise.

Fans stayed away from Hillsborough in the opening weeks of the campaign to protest against former owner Dejvon Chansiri.

“This puts the club in a stronger position moving forward and comes at a time when serious bidders are examining the finances and analyzing the potential of this historic club,” Wigfield said in a statement.

“We all think it’s very important that fans know what a big difference they make.”

The joint director also revealed there was interest from around the world to buy the South Yorkshire club.

Wednesday has been in administration for three weeks and bids can be submitted until the initial 28 day deadline of Friday 21 November.
