Blair Murray believes size isn’t everything as he looks to regain his starting place with Wales.
The Scarlets have enjoyed a rapid rise up the Test stage by featuring in all 14 international matches after making their debut against Fiji in 2024.
Murray started at full-back in Steve Tandy’s first four games but missed out on a 15th-place finish in the Six Nations.
The 24-year-old sat out England and France before appearing as a substitute on the wing against Scotland in Round 3.
At 5ft 7in, Murray’s aerial prowess was one of the main reasons he lost out to Louis Rees-Zammit, who at 6ft 2in, got the nod at 15.
However, the Scarlet Man believes his match-breaking abilities give him a chance to return to Wales’ starting line-up against Ireland next Friday (20:10 GMT).
“I like to think I’m on the team for a reason,” Murray said. “I bring something that other players don’t, so I’m just hoping I get that opportunity.
“Steve has been transparent and kept it clear about the selection, so I’ll just have to train my way back.”
