Dorris, who has made 23 appearances in the Six Nations, will captain Ireland against a French side that is missing some key players.
While captain Antoine Dupont returned to form again, coach Fabien Galthie chose not to select France’s all-time top scorer Damien Penaud, veteran midfielder Gael Fico and back-row Gregory Alldret, who captained the team in Dupont’s absence last year.
Having faced Aldrete on several occasions for club and country, Doris admitted he was surprised by the 28-year-old’s omission.
“If you look at the top 14 week by week, there are a lot of quality players at the top level, and they have an abundance of talent to choose from,” Doris added.
“I was surprised Aldrete wasn’t involved. Obviously I played him with La Rochelle a few weeks ago. I highly appreciate him but they have quality in the back row I’m sure of that.” [Anthony] Jelonche will represent the eighth jersey very well.
He added: “Playing against France is always a big threat, especially away from home in a hostile place like the Stade de France, so I’m looking forward to it.”
