French winger Oscar Gigo will miss Saturday’s Six Nations clash with England after being banned for four weeks for gouging out an opponent’s eye.
An independent disciplinary panel found that Jejo, 22, made “reckless contact with the eye(s)” of Scotland hooker Eoin Ashman during France’s 50-40 defeat at Murrayfield on Saturday.
Jejo escaped punishment during the match, but the committee decided that the action warranted a red card.
The sentence was reduced from six weeks to four due to his previous good behavior and disciplinary record.
The loss to Scotland ended France’s Grand Slam hopes and means the two teams will enter the final round tied on 16 points in the table, competing for the title with third-placed Ireland.
Gigo will miss the match against England in Paris (20:10 GMT) and will not be available for La Rochelle’s matches against PAO, Bayonne and Newcastle Falcons.
Scotland, whose points difference is lower than France, faces Ireland in Dublin on Saturday (14:10 GMT).
