Wales now face a Scottish team that is ninth in the world rankings, just two places behind them, but buoyed by their Calcutta Cup victory over the English.

Gregor Townsend’s men are in contention for the title after an impressive response following the disappointment of the opening weekend in Rome.

However, the Scotland coach remains under pressure despite traveling to Cardiff with title hopes.

Wilson was one of Townsend’s assistants between 2018 and 2020 while also being in charge of Glasgow for a spell, so he is well placed to assess the threats posed by the visitors.

“I learned a lot from Gregor while I was there. He’s an attack-minded coach, there’s no doubt about that,” Wilson said.

“The next step he’s looking to do is break into the top three in the Six Nations more regularly, but I think he’s done a very good job.

“They have produced a good squad, with some personnel they have found with quality players from Scotland and more local people in the system. They have had some really good performances and wins.

“They’re full of Lions. I’ve worked with them and I know how good their players are.”
