Cracknell was a late call-up for the November series after losing Taulupe Faletau to injury.
The 31-year-old blindside number eight made his Test debut off the bench against Argentina and then won the man of the match award in the last-gasp win against Japan.
Cracknell is in line to join Aaron Wainwright and Alex Mann in the starting back row at the expense of open side Josh Macleod.
“Maybe the balance wasn’t right last weekend,” said former Wales international and captain Ellis Jenkins.
“He makes sure we have enough fitness to be able to keep up with France in the contact area, tackling and collision.
“I like Alex Mann and Josh McLeod in their own right, but I’m not sure if England and France are a bit weak.”
Wales are set to rely on six forwards and two full-backs on the bench in the face of France’s fitness.
Tandy’s side are huge underdogs to France who easily beat Ireland on the opening weekend.
Wales have lost their last 12 Six Nations matches, a run dating back to victory over Italy in Rome in March 2023.
